This course is designed to present a survey of Russian literature in a period of political, cultural, and aesthetic revolution, beginning with avant-garde movements before the Bolshevik Revolution and the dynamic literary response in the 1920s to the revolution itself, including examples of Socialist Realism, dissident and émigré literature, continuing through the periods of the Thaw and
